This talk explores how coins can tell us far more than their face value. Drawing on numismatic data from the 1st to the 12th centuries CE, Dr Shailendra Bhandare will trace the networks of exchange that shaped the Indian Ocean world, moving beyond textual sources to examine the physical materiality of coins as markers of economic and cultural connection.
