Description
Egyptians equated scarab beetles rolling dung-balls with the sun God Ra’s daily act of “rolling” the sun across the sky – dying at night, reborn each morning. Scarab amulets were placed over the heart of the dead to ensure favourable divine judgement in the afterlife at the ‘Weighing of the Heart’.
