Description

Great wealth derived from trade, taxation and tribute sustained the refined opulence of the Persian court, expressed in luxury feasting vessels like these. The spectacular horn-shaped rhytons were used for drinking wine at banquets. This rhyton ends in a beautifully observed gilded caracal cat.
