Description

Soldiers don’t just fight. They form ceremonial guards of honour, like this axe carrier– one of a troop of Egyptian soldiers who ran beside the procession of royal boats on the Nile during religious festivals. This fragment is from the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the few female pharaohs.
