Description

Three Assyrian soldiers, armed with bow and arrow, shield and daggers, move to the attack. To the right, in the background, another archer rides a wheeled siege engine. Around 729 BCE, the expanding Assyrian kingdom in northern Mesopotamia conquered Babylon in the south.

This panel comes from a series lining the wall of a palace, celebrating the victories of the Assyrian king.
