Description

Richly adorned with a heavy beaded girdle, headdress and other ornaments, a woman is seeing playing with a little child, while another more simply dressed woman, probably an attendant, looks upon them from behind a curtain. Figures of women carved into the railing pillars of sites in Mathura are believed to be yakshis, nature spirits associated with fertility and prosperity.
