Description

Grinding stones are common across cultures and are still used in some households in India today. This example from Maharashtra around 200 CE is almost unchanged from the one in the Egyptian model, more than 2000 years earlier.

In India these grinders were used for making pastes from spices to enhance the flavour of food. India has produced and exported spices for thousands of years.
