Description

‘Gulf type’ seals were likely created by Harappan merchants operating from the region of present-day Bahrain, adopting their circular shape from Iran. Finds at Lothal, an Egyptian-style mummy model, a Sumerian-style head, and a Persian Gulf seal—highlight the port’s extensive trade and cultural exchange with Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the wider Persian Gulf. Also displayed here is a flat base model of a boat found at Lothal.
