Description
This exquisite silver dish shows Dionysos, Greek God of Wine and Revelry, while another in the exhibition shows his immortal wife, Ariadne. Gilded and in high relief, their eyes are inlaid with glass. Greek in style, they exemplify an ideal of courtly luxury extending from the Mediterranean to Afghanistan.
