Description
This model ‘Soul House’ was a cheap substitute for a full-sized funerary chapel, which only the rich could afford. Chapels were conceived as ‘house of eternity’, where the living brought offerings – like the meat and wine shown here. Actual liquid could be poured into the model, and drain through the two spouts in front.
