Description

Roman society comprised citizens, foreigners and enslaved people. Only citizens could vote in assemblies and elect officials. The young man wears official dress (toga) (20): like a modern identity card, this indicates the privilege of citizenship. He wears a circular protective amulet. Yet, he possibly died young. At his feet is a box for books. He was still at school.
